Siemens chooses Okomo for virtual recruiting events

Every year thousands of young people plan their professional future after graduation. Job fairs are one of the most important opportunities for companies and potential applicants to get to know each other. The challenges posed by Covid-19 and an increasingly decentralized job market are also creating a trend for virtual events in the areas of recruiting and human relations. However, it is still important for companies and potential applicants to have personal contact and human interactions like in a real physical fair.
With this in mind, Siemens Professional Education has decided to hold its recruiting fair and event series SIEYA for young trainees and graduates virtually instead of physically for the time being.

The trade fair supported the study and career orientation as well as the choice of career for pupils by providing exclusively virtual demonstrations of elements of career choice fairs and company explorations. In order to enable social proximity and personal interaction between recruiters and applicants despite the virtual distance, Siemens deliberately relied on the live communication tool Okomo.


The biggest challenge was how to bring together the young trade fair visitors and the experts from Siemens. In most cases, physically held job fairs offer the opportunity to inform themselves on site at the Siemens booths about their versatile training programs. Experts from the respective departments are available to answer questions from visitors to the trade fair. In order to create this informative atmosphere at the virtual recruiting fair SIEYA, a stable and secure solution was needed, which would allow the participants to get to know each other through virtual exchange. For many applicants this is the first point of contact with a company. It is therefore particularly important to keep the inhibition threshold for establishing contact as low as possible.


Thanks to modern online customer communication solutions like Okomo, trade fair visitors can use filters such as language or specialist department to search for the right contact person and select the communication channel they feel most comfortable with.

With the digital business card, visitors can see the expert’s competencies directly and even which communication channel (live chat, audio/video call or appointment) the expert can be reached through. This means that every expert is available to the trade fair visitor at any time – regardless of place and time – and can therefore be reached easily.
